Co-op housing can help.

A federal election has been called for October 14. In this election, housing co-op votes can make a difference.

For 40 years, housing co-ops have provided safe, secure, affordable housing for thousands of Canadians. But millions of Canadians still need a safe, affordable home. Many of these people are on co-op housing waiting lists.

You can help them find that home.

In this election, we will be calling on parties and candidates to make a commitment to support co-op housing. We want the next government to:

• Continue federal spending for housing co-ops       
• Provide more rent-geared-to income subsidies       
• Support a loan fund so housing co-ops can invest in energy savings and reduce greenhouse gases

Take action for co-op housing.

Here’s what you can do

• Make sure you’re registered to vote.       
• Use our on-line tools to send a message to candidates in your riding.       
• Question candidates about co-op housing when they ask for your support.
• Attend all-candidates’ meetings      
• Find out where each of the parties stand on co-op housing.       
• Get involved in the co-op housing political campaign.       
• Encourage others to get involved.
