Federal Election Tips & Tools
How you can help
Here are some things you can do to help get more affordable housing and give some hope
to the 4 million Canadians who need affordable homes:
- Put up election posters and flyers in your co-op.
- Send an e-mail or letter to the candidates expressing your point of view,
or call their campaign to tell them why new co-op housing is important to you. Ask about the candidate’s
views on co-op housing.
- Encourage others in your co-op to send a letter too.
- Make sure your co-op members know how to get registered to vote.
- Offer to drive co-op members to the polls on election day.
- Offer babysitting and other help so members of your co-op can vote.
- Question candidates or their workers when they come to your door.
- Attend all-candidates’ meetings in your riding and ask questions.
- Meet with candidates in their campaign office.
- Arrange tours of housing co-ops for candidates.
- Invite candidates to an event in your co-op and ask neighbouring co-ops to join you.
- Vote for candidates who will support co-op housing issues.
Get more involved. Contact your local co-ordinator or regional federation
to find out what co-ops in your area are doing.
