Nominating Committee reports

Call for Candidates

This year, the AGM will be held in London, Ontario from June 9 to 12.

Each year, CHF Canada’s Board of Directors appoints a Nominating Committee. Our job is to make sure that there are qualified people running for election to the CHF Canada Board of Directors, Finance and Audit Committee and Ontario Council. We will also be trying to make sure that these groups represent the diversity of our membership.

We encourage members to put themselves forward as volunteers for these elected positions.

In this report, we want to let you know:

  • how you qualify to be on the Board, Finance and Audit Committee or Ontario Council
  • what positions are up for election in 2010, and
  • how to run for election.

Elections material

We strongly encourage all candidates to declare their nomination as early as possible. We will help candidates in the following ways:

  • sending out elections material to AGM participants before the meeting, if it is available
  • helping candidates tell members about themselves on CHF Canada’s website, and
  • placing election material in the participants’ kits at the AGM.

Candidates are also welcome to distribute material at the AGM.

Thinking about diversity

We also support the work of CHF Canada’s Diversity Committee. We want to make all members feel welcome in CHF Canada’s elected leadership, including people of colour, new Canadians, Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, people whose mother tongue is not English or French, people with low literacy levels, seniors, lesbians and gays, young adults and people living in poverty. We are proud of our movement’s diversity, and our members have said that they want to see that diversity reflected on their board.
