Housing co‑ops encourage their members to play an active role by serving on the co‑op’s board. CHF Canada seeks candidates every year to run for the Board and Ontario Council. CHF Canada has a 16-person Board of Directors with one director from each province, one representing the Aboriginal community, and five elected at large. Directors serve two-year terms and elections are held each year for half the Board. Some regions have chosen to hold regional director election in the region; others are conducted at the annual meeting.
