What is PH-CHF?

PH-CHF was founded under another name in 1984 to serve and represent the housing co‑operatives of the regions of Peel and Halton, including such communities as Mississauga, Oakville, and Brampton. There are about 31 PH-CHF member co‑ops.  PH-CHF provides a range of services for members and the general public.

PH-CHF takes an active part in the lobbying activities organized nationally by CHF Canada. A staff member represents the association at CHF Canada’s Federations Committee.

How is PH-CHF run?

PH-CHF is governed by a board of eight directors. The federation employs one full-time staff member.

Services

PH CHF’s member co‑operatives receive the following services as a benefit of membership:

• A newsletter
• Advice given over the phone
• Co‑op Cost Cutters
• CHIP, a banking pool for member housing co‑operatives, allowing a co‑operative to earn a higher rate of interest on funds that pass through its account each month
• Referral service
• Resource library
• Short-term consulting
• Toll-free telephone calls to the federation

For an extra fee, PH CHF also provides extended consulting and educational workshops on co‑operative management and co‑operative living.
