Ontario Region staff meet with government officials to deal with program matters. Much of this work centres on the Social Housing Reform Act, which Ontario-program co‑ops need to follow. Together with regional federations, the Ontario Region works with municipal service managers on issues that affect a single co‑op or co‑ops throughout the service manager’s area. Discussions with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing focus on issues that affect co‑ops across the province.

Ontario Region staff also intervene with other Ontario government ministries to help co‑ops sort out problems arising from other provincial legislation, such as the Co‑operative Corporations Act.
