Social Housing Renovation and Retrofit Program

The Social Housing Renovation and Retrofit Program (SHRRP) is a $704-million funding program announced by the federal and Ontario governments in their 2009 budgets. SHRA co-ops are eligible for funding under this program administered by municipal service managers.

Federal-program co-ops are eligible for a similar program administered by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

AMC/SHSC Technical Services

Through the AMC Technical Services you have access to one-on-one consultations with highly knowledgeable professionals. They can help you with work such as establishing capital plans, project scope and design, the reviewing and arranging of Building Condition Assessment and Energy Audits, contract bid process and administration and the hiring of consultants. There is no cost to co-ops for these services.

Asset Management Resource Kit

The kit includes Building Condition Assessment templates, capital reserve forecasting software, energy audit templates and more. These materials were put together by the Asset Management Centre (AMC). The Asset Management Centre is a coalition of community housing support organizations, including CHF Canada, Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, Social Housing Services Corporation (SHSC), the Service Managers Housing Network and others. It was formed to help improve the quality of asset management in Ontario.

SHRRP tips

The SHSC has put together a page with a number of SHRRP resources including tips on some common capital projects such as refrigerator replacement, high efficiency furnaces and roofs.
